lyrics

At one end there lies another
The ends multiply, like jilted lovers
“Don’t leave us here,” they say, “please linger”
But the bee has lost its stinger

It spirals down with useless wings
A life that’s fair, there aren’t such things
The only recourse as time extends
Is to stand and face our many ends

(Write the words)
One after another
Do they follow?
What is following?

As the pickings get slimmer, we all grow grimmer
But I was always grim

In the theater of our middle age
We wait for a sign summoning us to the stage
The sign never comes, though the light descends
Leaving us all at the loosest of ends
